We are looking for a Backend Software Development Engineer (SDE2) with 3–6 years of experience to build reliable, scalable, and high-performance backend systems. The ideal candidate should have experience working on products at scale while also being comfortable operating in an early-stage environment where ownership, speed, and problem-solving are critical. You will work closely with product and engineering teams to design APIs, build core backend services, improve system performance, and contribute to technical decisions as the product evolves.
What you'll do
- Design, develop, and maintain scalable backend services and APIs.
- Own backend features end-to-end, from understanding requirements and technical design to deployment and monitoring.
- Build reliable systems capable of handling increasing traffic, data, and product complexity.
- Work closely with frontend, product, and other engineering teams to deliver end-to-end product features.
- Identify and resolve performance, reliability, and scalability challenges.
- Participate in architectural discussions and contribute to engineering and system design decisions.
- Write clean, maintainable, well-tested code and actively participate in code reviews.
- Contribute to improving development processes, engineering standards, and overall system reliability.
Must have
3–6 years of professional experience in backend software development. Strong proficiency in at least one backend programming language such as Java, Python, Go, Node.js, or similar. Strong understanding of data structures, algorithms, object-oriented programming, and software engineering fundamentals. Hands-on experience designing and developing RESTful APIs and backend services. Strong understanding of databases, including relational and/or NoSQL databases. Experience building scalable, reliable, and production-grade backend systems. Experience with Git, debugging, code reviews, testing, and software development best practices. Ability to independently own backend features from design and implementation through deployment and monitoring.
Good to have
Experience working on systems handling high traffic, large datasets, or significant production scale. Experience at a high-growth startup, large-scale product company, or engineering-driven organization. Exposure to microservices architecture, distributed systems, and event-driven architectures. Experience with caching, message queues, asynchronous processing, and background jobs. Familiarity with cloud platforms such as AWS, GCP, or Azure. Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, CI/CD, and production deployment workflows. Familiarity with observability tools, logging, monitoring, and performance optimization. Experience with system design and making technical trade-offs for scalability, reliability, and maintainability.
