We are looking for a Head of Engineering to take end-to-end ownership of the engineering organization and the systems powering a fast-growing consumer technology product. This is a hands-on leadership role responsible for engineering velocity, reliability, scalability, and cross-functional execution across mobile, backend, AI, internal tools, APIs, and infrastructure. The ideal candidate should have experience building and scaling consumer-facing products used by real customers, while being comfortable operating across multiple technical verticals. You will work closely with the founders, Product, Growth, and Analytics teams to translate business priorities into a clear engineering roadmap and ensure that teams ship quickly without compromising long-term technical health.
What you'll do
- Own the entire engineering system end-to-end, spanning mobile applications, backend services, AI systems, internal tools, APIs, and infrastructure.
- Set engineering priorities and sprint cadence while ensuring Product, Growth, frontend, backend, and AI teams execute in sync.
- Partner closely with founders and Product leadership to translate business requirements into clear technical priorities and execution plans.
- Balance speed of execution with scalability, reliability, security, and long-term technical health.
- Own critical engineering metrics including payment success rates, authentication conversion, latency, error rates, infrastructure costs, and system reliability.
- Build robust observability, alerting, incident response, and on-call processes that help teams identify and resolve issues quickly.
- Lead engineering hiring, team structure, performance management, mentorship, and technical development.
- Establish engineering standards, architecture principles, documentation practices, and processes that allow teams to scale efficiently.
Must have
8+ years of experience in software engineering, with significant experience leading engineering across multiple technical systems or teams. Proven experience owning engineering across mobile, backend, APIs, cloud infrastructure, and production systems rather than specializing in only one area. Strong track record of building and scaling consumer-facing products or applications with real users and transactions/payments. Strong understanding of backend systems and APIs, with hands-on familiarity with technologies such as Node.js, Python, or equivalent backend stacks. Strong understanding of mobile application architecture and authentication/login flows, preferably with Flutter or similar cross-platform frameworks. Hands-on experience with payment gateway integrations such as Razorpay, PhonePe, Juspay, Stripe, or similar platforms. Strong understanding of cloud infrastructure, observability, monitoring, alerting, latency, reliability, and production operations. Experience leading engineering teams, setting technical direction, establishing sprint processes, hiring engineers, and driving execution across multiple teams.

Experience working in a high-growth consumer startup or Series A/B environment. Experience working with AI/ML-powered products or AI-native engineering teams. Familiarity with Python-based AI backends, asynchronous worker systems, LLM applications, memory systems, or AI agents. Experience with product analytics and growth instrumentation tools such as Mixpanel, Google Analytics, Meta Ads, or similar platforms. Experience designing and managing API gateways, microservices, distributed systems, and cloud infrastructure. Strong understanding of security, compliance, authentication, authorization, and application-level security practices. Experience with infrastructure optimization, including cloud cost management, performance optimization, and reliability engineering. Experience using AI coding and engineering tools such as Claude Code, Codex, Cursor, or similar tools to improve engineering productivity.
