We are hiring an SDE-3 for a deep-tech robotics startup building AI-powered autonomous cooking robots. You will architect and develop core backend systems, build production-grade LLM and agentic workflows, and power the intelligence, reliability, and autonomy of a fleet of consumer robots.
What you'll do
- Design and architect complex backend features for robot autonomy, data logging, and system reliability.
- Create HLDs and LLDs for scalable, maintainable engineering solutions.
- Build and maintain the core Recipe Engine powering autonomous cooking operations.
- Develop production-grade agentic systems for recipe creation, feedback analysis, and internal engineering workflows.
- Build the code-intelligence backbone for AI agents, including AST chunking and LLM-driven graph extraction.
- Develop hybrid retrieval pipelines combining BM25, graph retrieval, and reranking.
- Optimize chunking, embeddings, and retrieval accuracy through systematic evaluation and benchmarking.
- Own critical backend systems end-to-end, ensuring reliability, scalability, and engineering excellence.
Must have
Strong experience in backend/software development, with the ability to independently own complex engineering projects. Excellent understanding of High-Level Design (HLD), Low-Level Design (LLD), and SOLID design principles. Proven experience designing scalable, maintainable backend architectures and production systems. Hands-on experience building and deploying production-grade LLM or agentic systems. Strong understanding of RAG pipelines, retrieval systems, and agent loops. Experience with tool-calling, MCP, and integrating LLMs with external systems. Strong understanding of retrieval data layers, including chunking, embeddings, and hybrid search. Experience with vector databases, graph databases, and retrieval optimization.
Good to have
Experience with Python and modern backend development frameworks. Familiarity with AST-based code parsing and code intelligence systems. Experience with graph extraction and knowledge graph construction using LLMs. Exposure to hybrid retrieval approaches combining BM25, graph search, and reranking. Familiarity with Cognee or similar knowledge-engineering frameworks. Experience building evaluation frameworks and benchmark-driven retrieval pipelines. Exposure to multi-agent architectures and autonomous workflows. Interest or experience in robotics, computer vision, IoT, or hardware-integrated software systems.
