We are looking for a Senior Backend Engineer with 4–5 years of experience to design, build, and scale reliable backend systems powering a fast-growing B2B marketplace. You will work on core product and platform services, build scalable APIs and integrations, improve system performance and reliability, and collaborate closely with product and frontend teams to deliver high-quality features.
What you'll do
- Design, develop, and maintain scalable and reliable backend services and APIs.
- Own backend features from technical design through development, testing, deployment, and monitoring.
- Build systems that support marketplace, commerce, payments, inventory, and other core business workflows.
- Optimize application performance, database queries, and system reliability as the platform scales.
- Develop and maintain integrations with third-party services and external APIs.
- Contribute to architectural decisions and improve backend engineering practices.
- Write clean, maintainable, well-tested, and production-ready code.
- Collaborate with product, frontend, and other engineering teams to deliver end-to-end features.
- Debug production issues and proactively identify opportunities to improve system stability and scalability.
- Mentor junior engineers and contribute to technical documentation and code reviews.
Must have
4–5 years of hands-on backend engineering experience. Strong proficiency in Python, Node.js, Java, or a similar backend language. Strong experience building RESTful APIs and backend services. Solid understanding of relational databases such as PostgreSQL/MySQL and database design. Experience with cloud platforms, preferably AWS. Strong understanding of distributed systems, scalability, performance, and reliability. Experience with Git, CI/CD, testing, and production-grade software development. Strong problem-solving skills and ability to independently own backend features end-to-end.
Good to have
Experience working on marketplaces, e-commerce, SaaS, or B2B platforms. Experience with microservices and event-driven architectures. Familiarity with Redis, Kafka/RabbitMQ, queues, or other distributed systems technologies. Experience with Docker and Kubernetes. Experience building third-party integrations, payment systems, or logistics APIs. Exposure to observability, monitoring, logging, and performance optimization. Experience working in a startup or high-growth product environment.
