We're looking for a Software Development Engineer II to join the founding engineering team of a technology-driven healthcare platform transforming how hospitals procure medicines and access financial services. You'll build scalable backend systems, develop reliable APIs, and contribute to end-to-end product development, helping streamline healthcare commerce and financing. This role offers the opportunity to take ownership of critical features, influence architectural decisions, and build impactful technology in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment.
What you'll do
- Design, develop, test, and deploy robust backend services and applications that support healthcare commerce and financial services workflows.
- Build and maintain RESTful APIs, ensuring reliability, security, scalability, and seamless integration with frontend applications and external systems.
- Develop and optimize backend services using Java or Python, Django, and PostgreSQL.
- Participate in system design discussions, architecture reviews, and technical decision-making to build scalable and maintainable systems.
- Take end-to-end ownership of product features, from understanding requirements and designing solutions to implementation, testing, deployment, and maintenance.
- Collaborate with product managers and designers to translate product strategy, wireframes, and user requirements into technical solutions.
- Conduct code reviews, review peer contributions, and maintain high standards for code quality, testing, documentation, and engineering practices.
- Work closely with cross-functional teams in an Agile environment to plan development cycles, manage feature delivery, and resolve technical challenges.
- Understand customer needs and build technology solutions that simplify hospital procurement, improve access to medicines, and streamline healthcare financing.
Must have
4+ years of professional software development experience, primarily in backend engineering. Strong programming skills in Java or Python, with experience building scalable and maintainable backend applications. Hands-on experience with the Django framework and developing backend services. Strong experience designing, developing, and integrating RESTful APIs, including API testing and debugging using Postman. Proficiency in PostgreSQL, including database design, writing optimized queries, and managing relational data. Strong understanding of the complete Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC), including design, development, testing, deployment, and maintenance. Experience with system design, code reviews, debugging, and writing clean, production-quality code. Ability to collaborate with product managers, designers, and engineering teams to translate requirements into reliable software solutions. Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and time-management skills, with the ability to thrive in a fast-paced startup environment.
Good to have
2+ years of experience working in fintech, financial services, digital lending, payments, or financial technology platforms. Experience building applications for healthcare, e-commerce, supply chain, or other transaction-heavy business domains. Familiarity with payment integrations, lending workflows, credit systems, or financial transaction processing. Experience developing applications for both desktop and mobile environments. Understanding of scalable system architecture, performance optimization, and backend service reliability. Familiarity with Agile development methodologies, sprint planning, and iterative product delivery. Experience with automated testing, CI/CD pipelines, and application deployment practices. Exposure to cloud platforms, application monitoring, and production debugging. Experience working in an early-stage startup or founding engineering team, with the ability to take end-to-end ownership of features.
