We are looking for an exceptionally intelligent, high-agency Founding Engineer to join an early-stage AI startup building next-generation computer-use agents and agentic automation systems. This is a zero-to-one role for someone who enjoys tackling ambiguous, technically difficult problems and turning ideas into production systems quickly. You will work directly with the founding team across AI agents, reasoning, browser/computer interaction, backend systems, infrastructure, and product engineering. The ideal candidate is a deep technical thinker who learns extremely fast, takes end-to-end ownership, and is excited to work at the intersection of cutting-edge AI research and real-world software.
What you'll do
- Build and ship core technology for AI-powered computer-use and agentic automation systems.
- Design intelligent agents capable of reasoning, planning, executing, recovering from failures, and adapting to changing environments.
- Build systems that interact with browsers, desktop applications, APIs, and legacy software.
- Develop reliable infrastructure for running and orchestrating AI agents at scale.
- Experiment rapidly with new models, architectures, agent strategies, and system designs.
- Improve agent accuracy, reliability, speed, robustness, and cost efficiency.
- Own projects end-to-end — from identifying the problem and designing the solution to implementation, deployment, and iteration.
- Work closely with the founders to identify high-impact technical opportunities and shape the product and engineering roadmap.
- Solve novel technical problems where there may be no obvious existing solution.
- Build production systems that can handle complex, real-world enterprise workflows.
- Contribute across the stack wherever required; this role values engineering ability over narrow specialization.
- Help establish engineering standards, architecture, tooling, and culture as an early member of the team.
Must have
Exceptional problem-solving ability and strong CS fundamentals. 2-6 + years of experience in software engineering, AI/ML engineering, or a closely related technical role. Strong programming skills in Python and/or C++, with the ability to write production-quality code. Experience building and shipping AI/ML systems, agents, automation systems, or complex software products. Strong understanding of algorithms, data structures, distributed systems, and software engineering fundamentals. Demonstrated ability to take an ambiguous problem from idea → prototype → production. Strong understanding of modern LLMs and/or agentic systems. High ownership, speed of execution, and ability to operate independently in an early-stage startup. Strong analytical mindset and genuine curiosity for difficult technical problems. Evidence of exceptional technical ability through top-tier academics, competitive programming, research, impactful projects, open-source contributions, or unusually strong engineering work
Good to have
Experience with computer-use agents, multimodal AI, browser automation, RPA, or UI agents. Experience with LLM agents, planning, reasoning, tool use, or agent orchestration. Experience with multimodal models, vision-language models, OCR, UI understanding, or screenshot/DOM analysis. Experience with reinforcement learning, imitation learning, or model training/fine-tuning. Experience with browser technologies such as Playwright, Puppeteer, Selenium, Chrome DevTools, or browser automation infrastructure. Strong backend experience with APIs, distributed systems, queues, databases, and cloud infrastructure. Experience optimizing systems for latency, reliability, scale, and cost. Research experience, publications, strong GitHub/open-source work, competitive programming, Olympiad experience, or equivalent evidence of exceptional technical ability. Experience at a high-growth startup or having built a product/company from scratch.
